Dorpje Vijfhuizen receives 1000 people for passing images Euro 2020

All images of the European Football Championship matches in 2020 are via the North Holland village of Vijfhuizen, located under the smoke of Schiphol.

The European Football Association UEFA has chosen the Expo Haarlemmermeer as the location of the so-called International Broadcast Center (IBC). This is where the TV signals come from the play stadiums and they are passed on to the media that broadcast the matches. The NOS is one of them.

The IBC houses technical, production and transmission facilities as well as TV studios and production and management rooms. At the 2016 European Championships it was located in Paris. Then more than 2 billion viewers were served worldwide.

According to the owners of the event center, the location next to Schiphol and close to Haarlem and Amsterdam was decisive in the choice of UEFA. From the end of March 2020, about a thousand people will work for four months.

Gijs de Jong, secretary general of the Dutch football association KNVB, says that the Netherlands can be very proud of the arrival of the IBC. “It is a very prestigious project that has a huge priority for UEFA and the broadcast partners.”
